Avalon Beach / Yellow Brick Road Lighting
This was a very early project with Council, one of the first utilising LEDs.
The brief was to ensure compliance with the existing AS1158, P3 Pathways standard.
Consideration of the residents along the western side of the path, to ensure no spill light into the properties, and ensuring that there was no upward light. The area will in time become a project of interest for the Australian Dark Sky group. The installation has LEDs which are compliant to the International Dark Sky association.
The attached site photos show the main beam well below horizontal and the backlight contribution to ensure good visual acuity along the path.
The site is bordering the ocean and is a harsh environment as regards salt spray, the luminaries have been built to ensure longstanding service life (include the copper content and paint specifications) originally extensively used on the Atlantic seaboard.
