Granite Island Causeway Lighting
The Tramway across the causeway commenced operation in 1894 and is one of two remaining in the world that operate a daily service. The causeway has been an iconic part of Victor Harbor since 1879 when it was extended from the wharf to Granite Island.
In 2019 an assessment had identified that the old Causeway was approaching the end of its useful life and a feasibility study into the potential upgrade options determined that retaining and refurbishing the entire existing structure was not viable and a new causeway would be constructed next to the existing structure, one that will continue to deliver and enhance social and economic benefits to the region, and provide a long-term solution that is environmentally sensitive. We were invited to supply the LED lighting strips that were to be installed along the railings on the new causeway and I must say, they look fabulous and give such a soft light without interfering with and overwhelming the eco system around the area and they go well with our existing Promenade Bollards as you come off the Causeway onto Granite Island.
