The Adelaide Desalination Plant at Lonsdale is Australia’s second largest desalination plant with a capacity of 100 gigalitres per year. It is Adelaide's only climate-independent source of drinking water and has been delivering potable water since 2011. Over 200 Solar and Mains powered LED lights were chosen in and around SA Water’s Lonsdale plant. The choice of lighting was LRL’s Satellite LED series and now its successor, the NXT Series. By implementing solar as a renewable energy, grid tied solar lighting in the carpark created a system that removes the ongoing costs of grid energy. This is especially important in today's energy crisis.
